Students must be under the age of 25 years at the time the course starts. You must provide proof of age ID.
Students must be long term residents (usually for 3 years for reasons other than education) of the City of Birmingham and must live within the boundaries of the City of Birmingham. You must provide written proof of address.
All undergraduate students must demonstrate and provide written evidence that they have applied for a Student Maintenance Loan and a Tuition Fee Loan from Student Finance England.
Students attending their first year of college/university will be required to provide evidence from the college/university proving that they have been offered and have accepted a place on the relevant course.
Grants cheques will not be issued unless the trustees have received a tutor reference on your previous academic year from your current course, or your previous course (if you have not yet started the course). The reference should include a report of your progress with your studies and comments on your suitability for the course you are undertaking.
All references from college/university must be provided on college/university headed paper or email from tutors’ official work email addresses.
Trustees may invite applicants to a short interview to discuss their application before a decision is made. If invited, students must attend.
Only one grant per student can be applied for in any academic year.
Grant cheques will only be issued to the student applying and not to a parent or guardian or other third party.
Application forms must be completed by and signed by the person applying for the grant.
Application forms and supporting documents must be submitted by the deadline.
